Session Work

If you are looking for Pedal Steel Guitar, twangy or jangly Electric Guitar, Mandolin or Dobro… You're in the right place.

CJ has acquired a range of instruments to suit most studio situations. From Rickenbackers, Telecasters and Gibson SGs to old 60s Silvertones and Teiscos. If you want Steel Guitar on your track CJ mainly uses his Excel Pedal Steel but, if that is not to your taste he also has a 70s Sho~Bud and two 50s Gibson Lap Steels. Lastly there is the choice of a couple of F-5 style mandolins and a Dobro. Always ask if you are looking for a specific sound as there is always something new!

As well as traveling to the studio your working at, CJ offers a Remote Recording service.

CJ is based in London so traveling to a studio of your choice is not a problem even if it’s not in the U.K.

Remote Recording

If it is not possible to get to the studio, Remote recording is the perfect way to work together. You don’t need a studio for this process. Sometimes a client will just send a wav. file of their track or get the studio they are working at to send the track for them. Alternatively some clients have a home studio and want to work via zoom in real time.

Here is a breakdown of the remote recording process.

Step 1.

E-mail to discuss your needs Via the contact form. CJ will get back to you ASAP!

Step 3.

After receiving the Wav. a deposit of 50% can be paid to paypal.me/cjhillman then CJ will start to record the parts for your track(s) and send you an mp3 or wav mix down of your original track, with the new part.

Step 2.

Once you are happy, send over a Wav. of your track (or Stems) with as much detail as you can provide. This can include:

  • Step by step on how you want the recorded part.

  • Chord Chart

  • References to other songs

  • Scratch parts recorded by you as an idea of the part.

Step 4.

Once you are satisfied, the remaining amount can be paid, then you will receive the separate tracks via Dropbox or WeTransfer via e-mail.

It’s that simple!
